Capito Votes to Confirm Noem for Homeland Security Secretary

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement after voting to confirm Governor Kristi Noem to serve as the next Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

"On November 5, the American people sent a resounding message - the open border policies of the Biden-Harris administration were a failure and have led them to feel unsafe in their own communities," Senator Capito said. "We need someone at the helm of the Department of Homeland Security who is going to faithfully execute the law and secure our borders, while balancing the broad responsibilities of DHS that encompass cybersecurity, disaster relief and recovery, and air and coastal security. I believe that Kristi Noem is the person to do it. Having served with Governor Noem in the House of Representatives, I have seen firsthand her tenacity and strength, and I look forward to working with her and the Trump administration make America safe again."
