New Feature Reduces Credit Evaluations for Transfer Students from Hours to Seconds

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) officially launched the Light Leap Prism Platform on April 10, marking a new era of efficiency for transfer students.

By replacing manual reviews with an automated, data-driven system, the Office of Transfer Services has reduced the time required to evaluate a student's transcript from approximately one hour to just 12 seconds.

For transfer students, this launch means immediate clarity regarding their academic standing.

"By promptly determining how transferred coursework applies toward degree requirements, students are better equipped to make informed decisions about their academic pathways," said Cindy Love, Ph.D., director of transfer services and recipient of the Light Leap Innovator of the Year award.

The platform's launch directly addresses the University of North Carolina System's directive requiring institutions to complete course equivalency evaluations within 15 business days of admission.

The implementation also allows university personnel to shift their focus from administrative data entry to direct student support.
