The City of Richardson is suspending today's recycling service make-up day and will resume normal trash service starting Thursday, Jan. 29. Recycling make-up days will be collected according to the following schedule:
As mentioned in Tuesday's release, the City's Public Services Department planned to conduct a thorough evaluation of alleyways throughout Richardson this morning to determine if conditions were safe for large recycling vehicles. While many City streets have experienced significant ice melt, alleyways are often more shaded and receive less traffic, causing ice to thaw more slowly and creating unsafe driving and loading conditions for collection crews.
After conducting the evaluation, we determined that conditions are still not safe.
Commercial solid waste service will resume normal operations on Thursday, Jan. 29.
"Our crews carefully evaluated alley conditions across Richardson this morning, and many areas remain unsafe for large recycling trucks because the ice simply isn't melting as quickly as we had hoped," said City Manager Don Magner. "We appreciate residents' patience as we adjust the schedule to protect both our employees and the community."

City Facilities Will Open at Noon Today
LIBRARY PATRONS:
Due dates and hold pick-up dates for all materials have been extended through Friday, January 30. The exterior book drop will be open at noon.
MUNICIPAL COURT:
Municipal Court staff will be available beginning at Noon on Wednesday, Jan. 28. All court trials previously scheduled for Wednesday will be reset and heard at a later date. Individuals affected by these changes should contact the court to confirm their new court date and will also receive updated information regarding their rescheduled court dates.
SHERRILL PARK GOLF COURSE:
The greens at Sherrill Park Golf Course are expected to remain covered until temperatures consistently reach levels that allow for safe removal. Even when daytime air temperatures rise above freezing, overnight and ground-level temperatures can continue to impact turf conditions, and keeping the greens covered helps protect the surfaces from freeze damage and supports long-term course recovery.
