No. 26-9

JUNEAU, Alaska - The statewide job count in March was 900 jobs above March 2025, or 0.3 percent.

The transportation, warehousing and utilities sector added 1,200 jobs, health care added 700 jobs, oil and gas added 500 and manufacturing (primarily seafood processing) added 400.

Professional and business services and information each lost 200 jobs. Construction, wholesale and retail were flat over the year.

Government losses offset most of the private sector gains. The federal government shed 1,900 jobs, reflecting last year's deep cuts. State government was down 500 jobs between the University of Alaska and general government. Local government, which includes public schools, was down 100 jobs.

Alaska's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in March, and the U.S rate was 4.3 percent.
