WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA) President and CEO Sr. Mary Haddad, RSM, issued the following statement on the lack of action on SNAP.

"On November 1, millions of families and seniors who rely on SNAP and WIC will face uncertainty about how to feed their children. Congress and the Administration have an obligation to ensure that those who depend on these vital programs are not left to wonder where their next meal will come from.

The inability to work together in a bipartisan way is not just a political failure - it's a moral one. It directly harms low-income moms, children, working families, seniors, and individuals across the nation. Hunger is not a partisan issue. Our national leaders must act now to protect the dignity and well-being of families in our country."

Catholic Charities agencies stand ready to assist SNAP recipients and others who experience food insecurity through their food pantries, soup kitchens, food delivery programs, and more. They are asking for donations to their emergency food appeal, which will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling its impact.
