Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Hit-And-Run On West Gate City Boulevard

GREENSBORO, NC (July 24, 2026) - Greensboro Police arrested the driver involved in a hit-and-run Thursday night that seriously injured a pedestrian.

On Thursday, 10:53 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of West Gate City Boulevard for a call about a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian. Shamar Curry, 21, of Fayetteville, was driving his Nissan Sentra eastbound near Paschal Street when he struck a man who was crossing the street. The pedestrian was not using a designated crosswalk.

Following the crash, Curry did not stop his vehicle at the scene but continued driving for approximately 1.75 miles. He pulled over on Interstate 40 and reported he had been involved in a collision with another vehicle, but it was determined through investigation that his vehicle had struck a pedestrian, who was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Curry was charged with driving while impaired and felony hit-and-run. Online court records show he posted bond, which was set at $20,000.

The Greensboro Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting the ongoing investigation. Further details are not immediately available for release.
