In Memoriam: Brian P. Smith

Brian Patrick Smith, Jr., a senior management major in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, passed away on Nov. 27, 2025. He was 22.

A native of Cape May Court House, New Jersey, Mr. Smith was known for his vibrant spirit, warmth and the enthusiasm he brought to every part of his life. He balanced academic focus with a passion for the things that excited him beyond the classroom.

Mr. Smith embraced life with a sense of adventure and a generous heart. He enjoyed moments spent with family and friends, cherished time with his beloved dogs, and found joy in a variety of activities from bowling with friends to exploring the outdoors on dirt bike trails. Mr. Smith also cared deeply for his trucks, taking pride in maintaining them with care and attention to detail.

"On behalf of the entire University community, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Brian's family, friends and loved ones," said Holli Harvey-Dudlek, dean of students at UD. "Our thoughts are with all who knew and loved Brian."

He will be remembered for his kindness, easy laughter and genuine interest in others.
