Trinseo Recognized with ARN Award for Advancing ELV Recycling

At the 2025 ARN Relatiedag in the Netherlands, Johan Koopmans, Sustainable Feedstock Sourcing Manager of SBS, accepted the ARN Award on behalf of Trinseo, recognizing the company's leadership in advancing sustainable practices across the end-of-life automotive sector.

This recognition stemmed from a series of collaborative projects between Johan Koopmans and Ben Porter, Sustainability Business Development Manager of SBS, with ARN, including:

• Dismantling of automotive lighting systems: Trinseo supported efforts to separate and recover materials from car front and rear lights-typically made of polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
• Advanced recycling trials: in partnership with sophisticated pre-treatment partners, Trinseo conducted trials to explore how various plastic fractions could be effectively separated and recycled.
• Exploration of scooter and motor windshield recovery: Although not yet implemented, Trinseo investigated recovery pathways for windshields made of PC and PMMA.
• Policy engagement: Trinseo actively communicated its perspective on the proposed amendments to the European ELV directive, offering insights into the implications for recycling and material recovery.
