USDA announces distance learning grant in Breckinridge County

U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Kentucky State Director Travis T. Burton joined Rep. Brett Guthrie today to announce an $847,282 distance learning grant in Breckinridge County.

"Rural Kentucky's students deserve the very best education we can give them," said Burton. "This grant will help Breckinridge County students improve their college and career readiness, and it will help improve health care access. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Rollins, this investment will benefit the county for years to come."

Breckinridge County Board of Education will use an $847,282 grant to equip eight hub/end-user sites throughout the county with videoconferencing equipment. Instructors will deliver remote science, technology, engineering, and math instruction dual-enrollment courses to eight locations benefiting 3,513 students.

During fiscal year 2025, USDA Rural Development awarded over $6.8 million in Kentucky through the Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant Program. This program helps rural communities leverage technology to overcome distance and low population density to access health care and educational opportunities.
