Congresswoman Luz Rivas Votes “Hell No” – Again – on Short-Term Funding for ICE, DHS

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Luz Rivas, the first Latina to represent California's 29th Congressional District, once again voted against additional funding for President Trump's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Krisit Noem's actions:

"Just as I did two weeks ago, I voted 'hell no' on the short-term funding bill for DHS and ICE. No agency should get a free pass to operate in the shadows and terrorize children, families, and our most vulnerable - but that is exactly how DHS has operated during the Trump Administration. DHS and ICE continue to torment my constituents in the San Fernando Valley and violate the Constitutional rights of our most vulnerable.

"DHS's actions have resulted in chaos and harm in cities across the country and have led to the murders of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti. Innocent lives will continue to be in danger if DHS is allowed to continue operating without increased oversight and accountability. With the safety of my constituents and community in mind, I - again - cast my vote against giving another dollar to DHS and ICE."
