KDCA strongly urges all riders to follow safety guidelines-especially wearing a helmet-to reduce the risk of severe injuries..
* Electric scooters, parallel two-wheeled electric vehicles, and electric bicycles.
Recent injury data analysis reveals a sharp rise in severe trauma cases linked to PMDs and other small non-motorized vehicles, with incidents nearly tripling from 34 cases (0.7%) in 2016 to 103 cases (2.6%) in 2023. Alarmingly, among those injured, 75% were not wearing helmets-6.7 times more than those who were (11.2%).
In response, KDCA has distributed a leaflet and safety guidelines to raise awareness about helmet use and other critical safety precautions for PMD riders.
