New Album 'Have Your Merry Christmas With Me' To Drop November 6th

Today, beloved singer, composer and jazz music maven Kat Edmonson drops a soulful, elegantly smooth rendition of "That's What I Want For Christmas".

Previously brought to life by Nancy Wilson, Kat's rendition reinvents the holiday classic for a modern generation, using her undeniably singular tone to conjure an intoxicating experience, like you're listening in an intimate jazz club, cozied up to a sweetheart amidst dim twinkling Christmas lights with a martini in hand.

"I fell in love with Nancy Wilson's recording of this song when I was 12 and played it on repeat, dreaming of the day I would sing it myself," said Kat about the song choice. "I learned so much from her about phrasing, emotional expression, and even the complexities of adult love through Earl Lawrence's wonderful song."

Her rendition is a song off her recently announced holiday album ' Have Your Merry Christmas With Me ', set for release on November 6th. It's a sophisticated and joyful journey through the holiday season and the music that has defined it for decades, but featuring Kat's signature sparkling twist on the jazz and traditional pop genres.

Kat recently released the first taste of the magical new record, " It's Snowing " - a pining reinvention of the Allen Toussaint-penned Irma Thomas classic "It's Raining". The track showcases the New York Times previous praise of Kat's music having "an equal foothold in jazz, cabaret and vintage cosmopolitanism pop."

Arranged by Kat, the album unfolds as a comforting trip through holiday nostalgia. Calling to mind childhood memories of cranberry & popcorn garland, listening to Nat King Cole by the fire, and enjoying hot apple cider while reconnecting with loved ones, 'Have Your Merry Christmas With Me' feels so intimate it's like you're hearing these classics for the first time, performed by a close friend.

With a versatile vocal tone that could feel just at home on a classic 50s record as it does on her own records, Kat Edmonson cites greats like Dinah Washington, Ray Charles, Blossom Dearie and Quincy Jones as her musical influences while also reveling in seasonal classic films like Miracle on 34th Street and Love Actually to give a jolt of holiday inspiration to the album.

A Songwriters Hall of Fame award-winning singer and songwriter, Kat has achieved numerous number one albums on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart, has appeared on Austin City Limits, Tiny Desk Concerts, A Prairie Home Companion, The Tonight Show andThe Late Show, has performed at venues and festivals around the world including Carnegie Hall, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Blue Note in Japan, and has toured alongside Lyle Lovett, Michael Kiwanuka, Chris Isaak, Shawn Colvin, and Gary Clark Jr.

Her original songs have appeared in film, television, and advertising. Edmonson also appeared as a 1930s jazz singer in Woody Allen's Café Society and made her theatrical debut in the Drama Desk Award-nominated off-Broadway production The Hang by Taylor Mac and Matt Ray.
