Rome, Italy: The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has officially announced that its 26th Global Summit will take place in Valletta, Malta, in 2026.

The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 25th Global Summit in Rome, which brought together thousands of leaders from across the global Travel & Tourism sector.

In collaboration with Malta's Ministry for Foreign Affairs & Tourism, the Malta Tourism Authority, and the Government of Malta, the event will unite influential leaders from both the public and private sectors to address the future of Travel & Tourism, focusing on innovation, resilience, sustainability, and long-term growth.

Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage City and cultural crossroads for millennia, has been selected as host city for this flagship event. Known as the Jewel of the Mediterranean, Malta's capital provides a remarkable setting for high-level discussions, networking, and knowledge-sharing sessions that will shape the sector's global trajectory.

Over three days in 2026, the WTTC Global Summit will serve as a platform for forging partnerships, driving sustainable investment, and highlighting the essential role of Travel & Tourism in the global economy.

WTTC Interim CEO Gloria Guevara said "We are thrilled to bring the WTTC Global Summit to Valletta, one of Europe's most beautiful capitals. Malta will provide an extraordinary setting as leaders from around the world come together to shape the future of Travel & Tourism.

"Travel & Tourism provides a backbone to Malta's economy. This year, WTTC is forecasting that Malta's Travel & Tourism sector will contribute €3.6BN to the economy, 43.5% above 2019 levels. We are also projecting that the sector will support one in five jobs in the country this year, growing 18% over 2019."

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs & Tourism, Hon. Ian Borg, said: "The announcement in Rome is a proud moment for Malta. I wish to thank WTTC, together with our Ministry and the Malta Tourism Authority, for securing this tremendous achievement.

"Hosting the Global Summit in Valetta confirms Malta's growing role as a thought leader in the global tourism sector.
