Silva receives 2026 Professional Staff of the Year award

Ramon Silva is the 2026 Professional Staff of the Year recipient, the Professional Staff Association announced.

Silva is the Director of Recruitment for the Department of Admissions. His colleagues saidhe has created a space where people feel supported, valued, and more connected to both their unit's and the university's purposes by demonstrating how the work they do is part of something bigger than themselves. They also say that he takes on the behind-the-scenes work that many people never see, quietly removes barriers, simplifies complexity, and creates tools that help others succeed and feel confident by consistently bringing warmth, humor, and a steady presence to all of his interactions.

When asked to describe him, they said that Silva is someone people trust, someone who listens, and someone who is always willing to step in and help move things forward. His colleagues noted that his ability to pair creativity with deep institutional knowledge and data-informed decision making ensures that innovative ideas lead to real impact, including record-breaking enrollment success in recent years.
