Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata took part in several meetings in London with national government and business leaders, as part of a bipartisan Congressional Delegation (CODEL) led by Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, which then continued to several other countries.
Beginning in London, the eight-Member CODEL held meetings with Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle, and United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Lammy, as well as discussions with business leaders who work within both nations' economies.
"The United States has a special relationship with the U.K., including historic ties and a very close alliance since World War II, and these leaders were gracious hosts to our delegation," said Congresswoman Amata. "The U.K. is an important presence and ally in the South Pacific, with key Indo-Pacific defense ties throughout the region, such as AUKUS, and relationships with Australia and New Zealand."
"In addition to security, the U.S. and U.K. have deep economic ties and mutual interests, vital to the economic engines of both countries," she concluded.
