Timothy Anderson Named 2025 CEO of the Year by MD|DC Credit Union Association

The MD|DC Credit Union Association has named Timothy Anderson, President and CEO of United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU), as its 2025 CEO of the Year. The award recognizes Anderson for his exceptional leadership and commitment to building a strong, inclusive, and mission-driven organization that puts people first. View his testimonial video here.

Since becoming CEO in 2019, he has guided USSFCU with a strategic vision rooted in a people-first philosophy. "Tim has helped transform USSFCU from a workplace into a community," says Board Chair Jay Moore. "He creates an environment where people feel empowered to grow. He prioritizes promoting from within and invests in his team at every level."

That dedication to culture and employee wellbeing has earned USSFCU local and national recognition as a "Best Workplace" by both The Washington Post and USA Today.

Under Anderson's leadership, USSFCU has experienced significant growth, surpassing $1 billion in assets. Member services have also been enhanced with the launch of an upgraded and more secure online and mobile banking platform, the establishment of an after-hours call center, the introduction of Interactive Teller Machines, and the elimination of overdraft and NSF fees.

Anderson also prioritizes Increasing access to financial education. USSFCU partners with community organizations to provide free financial counseling, credit-building resources, and money management programs for young people. USSFCU also invests in the community, donating more than $65,000 to local nonprofits and organizing donation drives to support regional organizations during the recent holiday season.

Impact on the Credit Union Movement

"Tim is recognized throughout the credit union industry as an exceptional leader. He's forward-thinking, embraces innovation and is always looking for a way to drive meaningful change," explains Heather Mansour, Chief Human Resources Officer, USSFCU.

Anderson's influence extends across the credit union movement. He served as Chair of the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) for three years and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2023. AACUC CEO Renée Sattiewhite praised him as a "transformational leader" and a "titan in the industry."

With over 30 years of senior executive and management experience in financial services, Anderson has held a range of leadership roles, including serving as CEO of a local DC credit union for eight years prior to becoming EVP at USSFCU.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Anderson is highly engaged in industry service. Along with serving as past Chair of AACUC, he currently serves on the MD|DC Credit Union Association's Board of Directors and the Credit Union Miracle Day Board of Directors which supports Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. He also previously chaired USSFCU's wholly owned CUSO, Credit Union Strategic Services, and served as an Engagement Advisory Member for CUNA, which is now America's Credit Unions.
