Remarks by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia at the Europe Day celebration

10 May, 2026

On May 10, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonyan participated and delivered greeting remarks at the Europe Day celebration.

The remarks delivered by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia follows below.

"Your Excellencies,

Dear colleagues,

Dear citizens,

It is a pleasure to address you today at this event organised on the occasion of Europe Day.

Europe Day is a celebration of peace, unity, solidarity, and shared values. It reminds us that Europe is not merely a geographical space, but above all a community built around shared values and principles, where human dignity, democracy, freedom, and cooperation form the foundation of a common future.

It is symbolic that this year Europe Day in Armenia is celebrated under the theme "Armenia-EU: Closer than Ever." And indeed, today Armenia and the European Union are closer than ever, both in the political dialogue and economic cooperation and the ever-growing ties being forged between our peoples.

This year's celebration has a special symbolism for Armenia, as it takes place just a few days after the 8th European Political Community Summit and the 1st Armenia-EU Summit. During those days, Yerevan became an important hub for European political dialogue, showcasing Armenia's growing role as a reliable platform for dialogue and partnership.

The European Political Community Summit reaffirmed the common vision built around peace, cooperation and solidarity. And the Armenia-EU Summit marked one of the most important milestones in the history of our relations, which reflects the unprecedented depth and forward-looking common agenda.

Today, Armenia is consistently advancing its vision of peace and connectivity. The "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, as well as the "TRIPP" project, play a key role in creating new opportunities in the region through the development of transport, energy, and digital connectivity. It is encouraging that new opportunities are also emerging in this area for deepening Armenia-EU partnership, as reflected in the Joint Statement on the Connectivity Partnership signed within the framework of the Amenia-EU Summit.

Another significant progress has been achieved in the Visa Liberalisation process. The first assessment report presented by the European Commission Armenia reaffirmed the firm political commitment of the Armenian authorities to implementing the necessary reforms. The fact that the assessment was conducted within an unprecedentedly short timeframe speaks both to the intensity of ongoing reforms and achieved tangible results.

Perhaps the most important foundation of Armenia-EU relations lie in its people. Education, culture, youth exchanges, science innovation, and business. The ties being forged give our partnership real and tangible substance, making it meaningful and visible in people's everyday lives.

For Armenia and the Armenian people, the European Union is not merely a partner; it is also a space of peace, democracy, cooperation, and opportunity.

Dear guests,

Today, as the world continues to face numerous challenges, it is more important than ever to uphold the values and principles that unite us. I am confident that the Armenia-EU partnership will continue to grow stronger, contributing to the advancement of peace, stability, and prosperity both in our region and beyond.

And once again, congratulations on the occasion of Europe Day.

Thank you."
