On Monday, September 22nd, Minister of National Defence, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, received, at the MoND headquarters, the visit of the Hungarian Ambassador to Romania, H.E. Mrs. Katalin Kissne Hlatki, this being the first meeting of the two officials after the presentation of the letters of accreditation on July 8th, 2025.
During the talks, the two dignitaries addressed a series of topics regarding bilateral cooperation, regional support for strengthening NATO's deterrence and defence posture and ongoing projects at the EU level.
Minister of National Defence welcomed the participation in the Bucharest Nine (B9) and the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) regional formats, emphasizing that Romania attaches great importance to joint projects, such as the Romanian-Hungarian Mixed Peacekeeping Battalion and the TISA Multinational Engineer Battalion. Minister Moșteanu added that joint military exercises and activities represent an opportunity to strengthen cohesion among NATO member states, as well as to enhance interoperability. In this respect, he has pointed out that Romania encourages participation in multinational exercises organized on Romanian territory.
The Romanian official also mentioned the importance of the support provided to our partners in the immediate vicinity, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, as well as to the states in the Western Balkans region, reiterating the fact that Romania remains a committed, solid and active ally in ensuring security on the allied eastern flank.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed on enhancing bilateral relations and close cooperation in support of Euro-Atlantic and regional security.
