County to Conduct Mosquito Treatment at the Baylands Pond

Published on June 11, 2026

Conditional on FAA approval. Timing to be confirmed.

Santa Clara County Mosquito & Vector Control District recently surveyed the Baylands Athletic Center pond and East Palo Alto after a high abundance of mosquitoes was observed. To proactively address emergence from the pond, they will apply a larvicide treatment by drone because of pond access challenges. The drone operator has requested FAA clearance, and if approved, the treatment was planned for as early as Monday, June 15 and should take one to two hours.

Please visit Santa Clara County's Mosquito and Vector Control webpage for more information on the treatment.
