Tennessee Highway Safety Office Joins Robertson County Joint Traffic Task Force for “Operation Safe RobCo” to Reduce Traffic Fatalities

From March 26 to March 28, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) will partner with the Robertson County Joint Traffic Task Force for "Operation Safe RobCo," a multi-jurisdictional initiative to reduce traffic fatalities in Robertson County. Participating agencies will increase enforcement of all hazardous traffic violations. Drivers are reminded to obey all traffic laws, signs, and signals to lower the risk of traffic crashes, injuries, or fatalities.

"According to Tennessee's Integrated Traffic Analysis Network, there were 303 traffic crashes in Middle Tennessee resulting in fatalities and/or serious injuries last year to date" said THSO Director Buddy Lewis. "This year to date, there have been 254. Troopers and officers will be working diligently to help save lives and protect Tennessee roadways."

The THSO offers the following safe driving tips for motorists:

  • Buckle up every trip, every time. You are more likely to survive a car crash while wearing your seat belt.
  • Never text and drive. Tennessee is a "hands-free" state. Cellphone use is prohibited while driving.
  • Watch for pedestrians. This includes work zones, school zones, and busy intersections.
  • Look twice for motorcycles. Motorcycle riders are prevalent during warm weather months and need plenty of space to maneuver safely.
  • Always find a sober ride home. It is never safe to drink and drive. You could lose your license, your freedom, your life, or the life of someone else.

The Robertson County Joint Traffic Task Force includes Tennessee Highway Patrol, Greenbrier Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Millersville Police Department, White House Police Department, Cross Plains Police Department, Robertson County Sheriff's Office, Coopertown Police Department, Robertson County EMS, Robertson County EMA, and Robertson County District Attorneys Office.
