WASHINGTON - Following President Donald J. Trump signing an Executive Order, Secretary Turner will now co-chair the Task Force on Manufactured Housing Innovation to unleash more affordable and innovative housing.
The Executive Order, Decreasing Housing Costs for the American People, established this task force to create a whole-of-government approach to ensure our nation is modernizing federal housing programs to accommodate for innovations in manufactured housing. The task force will work to modernize standards and codes to safely speed up certifications and approvals across government and provide an alternative pathway and clear regulatory guidance while ensuring quality housing supply.
"President Trump is a builder, and today he is committing to bring even more innovative and affordable housing solutions to market for the American people," said Secretary Turner. "For decades, home building has been crippled by regulatory red tape, but the Task Force on Manufactured Housing Innovation can usher in the next generation of housing by modernizing standards and speeding up approvals across government."
HUD has previously showcased how innovation can help increase housing supply and unlock the American Dream of homeownership for more citizens.
The task force will be co-chaired by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and includes the Secretary of Agriculture, the Secretary of Commerce, and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
