TRAFFIC ALERT: New Weight Restriction Placed on Route WW/Little Osage River Bridge in Vernon Co.

Vernon County - Signs indicating a weight limit of 40 tons for combination vehicles (tractor trailers) have been installed for a bridge on Vernon County Route WW over the Little Osage River northwest of Nevada, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The new load posting came about during the department's regular bridge inspection process to analyze load limitations, which have been updated per Federal Highway Administration guidance.

The bridge was built in 1966. The new weight restriction will be in place until the bridge is rehabilitated, which is currently scheduled for Fiscal Year 2029.

Previously there was no weight limit in place.

Approximately 225 vehicles travel across the structure each day.
