Global Humanities aims to enhance the prominence and societal impact of the humanities and social sciences by promoting a research and teaching program that addresses global challenges, incorporates varied perspectives, and facilitates meaningful discussions between scholars and students.

On Friday, October 11, the UC Chile Faculty of History, Geography, and Political Science, in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Literature, officially joined the Global Humanities Alliance.
This initiative aims to elevate the global profile and social and political impact of the humanities and social sciences by focusing on a research and teaching program that tackles global issues, incorporates diverse perspectives, and fosters critical conversations among academics and students.
This alliance is comprised of seven other universities:
According to the membership statement, the GHA's core value is that "combining our complementary and distinctive strengths, we can better address key global challenges and showcase the difference humanities, social sciences, and liberal arts make to the world."
Additionally, this alliance aims to enhance exchange and collaboration between academics and students around four thematic pillars:
The launch ceremony took place at the University of Manchester and from UC Chile was attended by Umut Aydin, Director of the Institute of Political Science, along with two academics from the Faculty of History, Geography, and Political Science : Jonathan Barton from the Institute of Geography and Ximena Illanes from the Institute of History.
