Sigma Delta Lambda Chapter partners with Red Cross; residents encouraged to donate amid critical need
The Sigma Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Southfield Alphas) will launch Black History Month with a community blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross.
The event will take place at the Southfield Public Library and reflects the fraternity's century-long commitment to leadership, service and civic engagement. Organizers hope to build on the success of past blood drives while helping address the urgent nationwide need for blood donations.
Donations from Black donors are especially important for patients with conditions such as sickle cell disease, where closely matched blood types are often needed. Each pint donated can help save up to three lives.
