The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS) today announced the grand opening of a new location for the Hope and Healing Recovery Community Outreach Center, located at 37 Chester Street in Glens Falls. Operated by the Council for Prevention, this program provides non-clinical recovery support services for New Yorkers impacted by addiction, as well as their families, and will serve people throughout Warren County and the surrounding area. OASAS is providing more than $500,000 in annual funding through the New York State Opioid Settlement Fund (OSF) to support this program.
"Recovery is an important part of the OASAS continuum of care, and these services are vital to supporting the overall health and well-being of New Yorkers impacted by addiction," OASAS Commissioner Dr. Chinazo Cunningham said. "Thanks to the New York State Opioid Settlement Fund, we have been able to greatly expand these services across the state, and connect more with the help and support they need."
Services at the recovery center include recovery coaching and peer support, recovery courses and wellness programming, life skills education, community service opportunities, and recreational activities. The program is also planning to offer specific mothers and veterans support groups and is partnering with a local organization to provide public naloxone trainings in local parks. This recovery center is one of dozens receiving funding through the New York State Opioid Settlement Fund. In 2023, OASAS awarded more than $12 million to raise the budget of all recovery centers across the state to $535,000. To date, OASAS has made nearly $400 million available through the opioid settlement fund, which is the most of any state in the nation. This funding is supporting a variety of initiatives across the prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery continuum of addiction care. Up-to-date information about spending through the OSF, as well as video profiles of other OSF supported initiatives, are available online.
The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports oversees one of the nation's largest systems of addiction services with approximately 1,700 prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery programs serving over 731,000 individuals per year. This includes the direct operation of 12 Addiction Treatment Centers where our doctors, nurses, and clinical staff provide inpatient and residential services to approximately 8,000 individuals per year.
