Rosen Statement on Washington Republicans Passing Budget to Give ICE Billions, Not Help Lower Costs for Families

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after voting last night against Senate Republicans' budget resolution to give an additional $70 billion to ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Instead of working to lower costs, Washington Republicans approved this funding in addition to the more than $75 billion that ICE and CBP are already set to receive annually from Republicans' "One Big Beautiful Bill."

"For weeks, Senate Democrats have been fighting for reforms to rein in ICE officers and make them accountable to the same guardrails as other local law enforcement. Instead of working with us, Senate Republicans chose to use a partisan process to unilaterally give ICE an additional $70 billion," said Senator Rosen. "At a time when families continue to struggle with rising prices and as TSA and Coast Guard officers continue to work without funding, Washington Republicans have prioritized giving away tens of billions of additional tax dollars to fund an agency that has already received billions in funding this year. This process made it clear that Washington Republicans don't care about lowering prices at the gas pump, in the grocery store, and rising health care costs."

Senator Rosen has consistently fought for more ICE reforms while attempting to pay TSA agents. Earlier this year, she called for reforms to rein in ICE officers following the killings of two Americans in Minneapolis. Throughout the DHS shutdown, Senator Rosen has tried to pass her bill to pay TSA agents but Republicans blocked it multiple times.
