CLEARWATER, Fla. - The city of Clearwater's Solid Waste and Recycling Department has implemented Routeware, a technology platform designed to improve collection operations and provide more efficient service to residents.
Routeware provides digital route management through in-cab tablets and real-time vehicle tracking, giving the department greater visibility in daily operations. The platform also centralizes issue reporting and collects operational data to help staff identify trends and measure performance.
The technology has helped the Solid Waste team improve route efficiency and respond to resident complaints with current information. Greater visibility into daily collection activity helps staff make informed decisions and address service questions.
Onboard camera footage gives staff a way to review collection activity when a resident reports a missed collection. The footage can help staff respond with clearer information and confirm whether service was completed.
The department also uses operational information to identify trends and support ongoing improvements to its routes and day-to-day work.
Over time, Routeware will support data-driven planning and continuous improvement throughout the department. By integrating with the city's existing technology, the platform creates a stronger foundation for safe, efficient and cost-effective solid waste and recycling services.
