A mother's journey with health benefits

Why it matters

Maternal mortality and infant mortality are increasing in the United States, highlighting a large gap in care that many mothers face. Beyond maternal health care, women face a variety of other health problems, including increased physical distress, depression and decreased vaccination rates.¹

In an already complicated health system, maternal health can be overlooked and underserved. That's why providing safe and accessible care to women and children is more important than ever.

To help combat the issues that women and their families are experiencing, UnitedHealthcare is working to make quality health care easier to get.

Investing in communities

One way we're helping the health care system better serve mothers and their families is by investing in local communities and programs. In 2025, United Health Foundation, the philanthropic foundation of UnitedHealth Group, announced $7 million in grants to increase access to maternal and infant health care in Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico and Wisconsin.

UnitedHealthcare also supports a mobile health center for moms and babies in Washington, D.C., and the greater metro area. The Mom & Baby Mobile Health Center by March of Dimes provides wellness exams, point-of-care ultrasounds, infant care and more to local mothers and families.
