The individual killed in a shooting in North Portland on September 30, 2025, has been identified as Alexander Montie-Lopez, 16, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death and they are requesting privacy at this time.
The Medical Examiner determined Montie-Lopez died of homicide by gunshot wound.
Detectives have interviewed all parties involved, including the individual detained at the scene of the shooting. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made. Detectives do not believe there is a danger to the public.

Male Deceased After Shooting In North Portland
On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 2:28 a.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to the 6800 block of North Central Street on reports of a person shot. When officers arrived at the location, they found a male victim who was deceased. A subject has been detained in the incident.
Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives have responded to the scene to investigate. If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to please send an email to [email protected]or call 503-823-0479. Please reference case number 25-269115.
During the investigation, North Central Street will be closed between North Gilbert Avenue and North Heppner Avenue.
The identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death and after family members have been notified. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
