The City of Columbia Sewer Utility has scheduled a public information meeting to discuss a proposed sewer improvement project near the intersection of South West Boulevard and West Stewart Road. The meeting is scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Conference Room 1A at City Hall, 701 E. Broadway.
The Utility is proposing to replace the privately maintained sewer system for property owners near the intersection of South West Boulevard and West Stewart Road. If approved, the Utility would construct a new public sanitary sewer to serve these customers.
These proposed improvements are part of the Utility's Private Common Collector Elimination (PCCE) project, which started in 2008. Private common collectors are major sources of inflow and infiltration of stormwater into the sanitary sewer system. By replacing the outdated private sewers and connecting these properties into the publicly maintained sewer, the City can reduce the occurrence of backups and overflows.
During the meeting, stakeholders will have the opportunity to review preliminary concepts, ask questions, make comments and complete a public comment form.
Questions and comments will also be accepted online at BeHeard.CoMo.govthrough Feb. 4.
If you have questions regarding this meeting, please reach out to Nathan Runyan at 573.441.5482 or via email at [email protected].
Members of the public may attend any open meeting. For requests for accommodations related to disability, please call 573.874.CITY (573.874.2489) or email [email protected]. In order to assist staff in making the appropriate arrangements for your accommodation, please make your request as far in advance of the posted meeting date as possible.
