California Federation of Labor Unions Withdraws Endorsement of Rep. Eric Swalwell in California Governor's Race

Sacramento, CA - (Saturday, April 11, 2026) - The California Federation of Labor Unions, AFL-CIO on Saturday morning withdrew its endorsement of Rep. Eric Swalwell for California Governor.

"This morning, the Executive Council of the California Federation of Labor Unions unanimously voted to withdraw our endorsement of Rep. Swalwell for Governor. The allegations made by women who worked for and with Rep. Swalwell are overwhelming and unacceptable. Ultimately, our duty is to serve California's workers, not any politician,"said Lorena Gonzalez, President of the California Federation of Labor Unions, AFL-CIO.

The California Federation of Labor Unions' endorsed candidates for Governor at this time are Tom Steyer, Antonio Villaraigosa, and Katie Porter.

The California Federation of Labor Unions, AFL-CIO represents over 1,300 affiliated unions in California with over 2.3 million union members in trucking, retail, hospitality, janitorial, construction, health care, local and state government, education, arts and entertainment, warehousing and logistics, manufacturing, and every other sector of the economy.
