Senator Alsobrooks Responds to Childhood Vaccination Rates Backsliding

September 16, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) responded to childhood vaccination rates backsliding across the United States. A monthslong NBC News data investigation, in collaboration with Stanford University, found that a large swath of the U.S. currently does not have the basic, ground-level immunity medical experts say is necessary to stop the spread of measles.

"This investigation is devastating but sadly unsurprising. Measles were eliminated in the United States - thanks to the medical marvel of vaccines - and now we are backsliding. Children will die.

"I continue to call on RFK Jr. to resign or be fired because I see how his dangerous rhetoric is hurting American families, lessening America's leadership in science and medicine, and putting our children at risk."
