City to Deploy White Flag Activation Tonight

The City of Greensboro will activate a White Flag warming center on Tuesday, March 17, in response to anticipated low temperatures overnight.

First Baptist Church, 1000 W. Friendly Ave., will provide overnight shelter from 7 pm tonight until 7 am on Wednesday, March 18. The First Baptist warming center is open to single adults and families.

Interactive Resource Center employees trained to work with special populations and coordinate services upon request will staff the First Baptist location.

The City's Community Safety Department activates White Flag status when the actual or "feels-like" temperature is 32 degrees or less for two or more hours. A White Flag alert can take effect when the forecast or current conditions include a severe weather event, freezing precipitation, extended below-freezing temperatures, and/or wind concerns, which may impact homeless encampments.
