Suresh Balasubramanian, M.D., hematologist and medical oncologist, and member of the Hematology Oncology and Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis Multidisciplinary Teams at Karmanos, disclosed some risks and side effects of taking steroids as part of the treatment plan for systemic mastocytosis, additional therapies that can be used instead or complement the steroid treatment, and when patients should let their physician know they may be experiencing side effects.
