Mr. Chaib outlines in New York Algeria's human-centered, development-driven vision on migration

The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, participated Friday in a high-level session titled Global Diaspora Policy Alliance: New Diaspora Initiative Set to Drive Collaborative Solutions for Sustainable Development.

The session, organized by Georgia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), was held on the sidelines of the International Migration Review Forum in New York .

During the session, Chaib emphasized the special importance and care the State devotes to strengthening ties with its community abroad, based on deep-rooted historical and political foundations.

He outlined Algeria's approach toward its nationals abroad, describing them as an integral extension of the nation and a strategic partner in national development.

The Secretary of State also highlighted various political and institutional gains established by the country's highest authorities for the benefit of the national community abroad, ensuring full citizenship rights and active participation in national life and political decision-making." Chaib reviewed ongoing efforts to modernize and digitize consular services, aiming to simplify procedures, bring administration closer to citizens, and improve the management of community concerns.

He also noted the continued expansion and strengthening of Algeria's consular network to meet the evolving needs of its nationals abroad.

Concluding his remarks, Chaib reaffirmed Algeria's commitment to further enhance the involvement of its nationals in national development.

He also stressed the importance of promoting international cooperation and exchanging best practices in diaspora policies, consolidating the diaspora's role as an active partner in the multilateral international system.
