St. Louis Work Zones Nov. 6-12…

ST. LOUIS - Drivers along I-55 in Jefferson County should be aware of two upcoming closures this weekend for the continued interstate improvements in the area.

Crews will close the entrance ramp from Route A to northbound Interstate 55 Friday, November 7 at 9 p.m. for drainage work. The ramp will reopen Sunday, November 9 by 6 a.m.

In addition, crews will close McNutt Street under Interstate 55 Friday, November 7 starting at 9 p.m. This closure will allow northbound I-55 traffic to temporarily exit the interstate, cross over McNutt Street, and re-enter I-55. McNutt will reopen Saturday, November 8 by 5 a.m.

During the closure, crews will connect the existing northbound lanes to the new median pavement. This connection will shift northbound I-55 traffic onto the new bridge over McNutt Street, enabling the demolition and replacement of the existing northbound I-55 bridge.

Drivers who use southbound Interstate 270 near Interstate 64 should be aware that southbound lanes will shift, starting next week.

Weather permitting, crews will close up to three southbound lanes on I-270 near I-64 (mile marker 12) overnight Monday, November 10 through Wednesday, November 12 to move barrier wall and remove and replace striping for the shift. Two lanes will close each evening at 8 p.m., and the third lane will close at 10 p.m., with lanes reopening by 5 a.m. the following morning. At least one through lane will remain available at all times. On Thursday morning, November 13 at 5 a.m., drivers should be aware of the changing traffic pattern with three southbound lanes pushed to the right around work in the center of the interstate.

For more on roadway closures due to construction, additional work zone information and real- time roadway weather conditions go to http://traveler.modot.org/map. For real-time traffic, visit www.gatewayguide.com.
