High school and middle school students are encouraged to hop online Sunday, April 19, at 5 p.m. MDT for Wyoming 4-H's sixth annual Virtual Career Night.

Hosted on Zoom, the 2026 Wyoming 4-H Virtual Career Night provides an opportunity for young people to interact with professionals in fields ranging from veterinary science, fire safety and law enforcement to counseling, theatrical costume design and real estate.

This year's speakers include Christopher Robertson, director of Colorado State University's (CSU) Drone Center; a Virginia fire marshal; the CEO of a Wyoming tech company; and a wardrobe manager for the live entertainment company Cirque du Soleil.

While the career fair is organized by Wyoming 4-H educators in partnership with other land-grant universities, it is free and open to any young people interested in attending.

"Virtual career night encourages kids to look outside their comfort zone and find something that sparks their interest," says Amber Armajo, Washakie County 4-H educator and lead organizer of the event. "It's an opportunity to find some careers that maybe aren't traditional to the area they live in."

Each presentation, which includes a live question-and-answer session, will last approximately 20 minutes. Participants can attend three sessions of their choice.

Following the event, recordings of each session will be posted on the virtual career night webpage. The evening will conclude with a group wrap-up and question-and-answer session.

Last year, 130 participants from 16 states registered for the event.

"Virtual career night opened my eyes to the vast diversity of career opportunities," says Cannon Cook, a former Wyoming 4-H member who went on to become a certified auctioneer specializing in charity, livestock and consignment. "I learned that you can never pass down an opportunity, and networking and professionalism lead you to places you would never think of."

Event partners include CSU Extension, University of Idaho Extension, Montana State University Extension, Utah State University Extension and Virginia Cooperative Extension. Door prizes are provided by local sponsors.
