Help shape future advocates: Volunteer to judge Iowa Middle School Mock Trial

The 2025 Iowa Middle School Mock Trial Tournament is quickly approaching, and attorneys across the state are needed to step into the courtroom-not as advocates, but as judges. Regional competitions will run Nov. 1-21, followed by the state tournament on December 1-2. Check your schedule and sign up today to volunteer at a regional or state tournament. Volunteers consistently report that serving as a judge is one of the most rewarding ways to give back to the profession.

More than 2,000 students from across Iowa participated last year, making the mock trial program one of the largest academic competitions in the state. These students rely on volunteer judges to provide thoughtful evaluation, constructive feedback, and encouragement as they hone their skills in critical thinking, advocacy, and teamwork.

Whether you've judged before or are considering it for the first time, your presence is vital to delivering a meaningful and memorable educational experience. No prior mock trial experience is required-just a willingness to listen, observe, and support the next generation of legal thinkers.
