Lofgren Applauds $600K Grant for Silicon Valley Non-Profit to Combat Domestic Violence

SAN JOSE, CA - Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-18) announced the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) awarded Pro Bono Project Silicon Valley (PBP) a $600,000 grant through the Justice for Families Program. With this grant, PBP will provide legal advocacy and consultation to survivors with cases on the domestic violence calendar at Santa Clara County courts. PBP will also provide outreach to local libraries and rural community centers and translation and interpretation services for advocacy or legal services clients across Santa Clara County.

"I proudly voted in favor of reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, because it's essential that survivors of domestic violence receive the support they need when navigating the challenges of the legal system. This grant will go a long way in helping those survivors, and I commend Pro Bono Project Silicon Valley for the work they're doing every day to deliver justice for all Californians, regardless of income," said Rep. Zoe Lofgren.

The Justice for Families Program was authorized by the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA), for which Rep. Lofgren voted in favor. The program supports activities to improve the response of the civil and criminal justice system to families with a history of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, or in cases involving allegations of child sexual abuse.

The three-year grant will be enacted on October 1, 2025.
