Metro Nashville's Emergency Overflow Shelter will open Monday, January 6-Friday, January 10. The hours of operation will be 7 p.m.-10 a.m. "I am grateful to everyone in our Office of Homeless Services and across multiple Metro departments who step up to serve our most vulnerable neighbors during the coldest days and nights. They do so with kindness and compassion, and my hope is that more Nashvillians will text OHSALERT to 888-777 and help us spread awareness of shelters and other resources."-Mayor, Freddie O'Connell.
"Our mission is to lead Nashville's efforts to end homelessness through innovation, community collaboration and compassion. OHS will continue to partner with community members and other metro departments to serve with compassion."-April Calvin, Director of Office of Homeless Services.
Emergency Shelters are activated based on weather conditions with decisions made daily by noon. In cold weather months, the shelter opens when the temperatures reach 32 degrees or below for 3 consecutive hours. Below is a summary of the number of people served per night. We will continue to work closely with the Office of Emergency Management to determine the most appropriate response.
