Aircraft noise from DFW Airport will soon be tracked more closely in southeast Fort Worth neighborhoods. City Council has approved two agreements with the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Board to install upgraded, solar-powered noise monitoring systems in Council District 5.
One monitor will replace the current system near Fire Station 33 on Statler Boulevard, while the other will be added in the Post Oak Village area. These systems will collect real-time data on aircraft noise levels, helping the City and DFW Airport address community concerns.
"By supporting this project, the City is helping build stronger ties between DFW Airport and surrounding communities," said Roger Venables, Fort Worth aviation director. "Access to precise, location-based aircraft noise data allows the airport to validate concerns and respond to them more effectively."
The agreements last 20 years, with automatic annual renewals, and come at no cost to residents. The City will receive a one-time $1 fee for each site. City leaders say the investment supports neighborhood quality of life by keeping tabs on airport noise.
