South Carolina Resident Arrested for Illegally Possessing a Loaded Firearm in Central Square

Cambridge - Josh Bruce, 27, of Florence, South Carolina, was arrested by Cambridge Police on multiple charges related to the unlawful possession of a loaded firearm following an incident in Central Square. On Tuesday, July 21st at approximately 9:15am police were dispatched to Franklin Street after a 9-1-1 caller reported a person, later identified as Bruce, had made threats and shown a handgun during an altercation. Bruce then fled from the scene but was located by officers nearby. Subsequent investigation revealed that as Bruce attempted to flee, he had discarded a bag, inside of which was a loaded 9mm handgun. As Bruce does not possess a license to carry (LTC), his possession of a firearm and ammunition is a crime. Bruce was placed under arrest on charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carry a Loaded Firearm without a License, and Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number during the Commission of a Felony. Bruce has been arraigned in Cambridge District Court on the charges listed above, prosecution of this case will be managed by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
