Camden County Maintains Class 6 Rating

The Camden County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that Camden County has successfully maintained its Class 6 rating in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS). This rating allows unincorporated Camden County residents to continue receiving a 20 percent discount on flood insurance premiums for most NFIP policies issued or renewed on or after October 1, 2025.

The CRS program is a voluntary initiative administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that rewards communities for implementing floodplain management practices that exceed minimum NFIP requirements. Camden County's continued participation demonstrates a proactive commitment to reducing flood risks and protecting property and lives.

"This continued Class 6 rating is the result of years of dedicated work by our staff and a reflection of our commitment to building a more resilient community," said County Administrator Shawn M. Boatright. "We remain focused on responsible planning and flood mitigation strategies that deliver real, long-term benefits to our citizens."

Since joining the CRS program in 2012, Camden County's efforts have resulted in more than $1 million in cumulative savings for policyholders in unincorporated areas.

"We are proud to continue providing residents of unincorporated Camden County with cost savings through the CRS Program," said Cassie Turpin, Floodplain and Soil & Erosion Coordinator. "Maintaining this discount reflects our ongoing commitment to effective floodplain management and the safety of our community."
