Insurance Authority warns against phishing emails and fraudulent website

The Insurance Authority (IA) today (8 November 2024) wishes to alert members of the public to phishing emails from an address under the domain name of "my.beacons[.]email" that contain a link of "hxxps://bit[.]ly/3AkL76R" redirecting to a fraudulent website with the domain name of "hxxps://aljouf[.]com/.". The emails have been sent out to lure recipients to visit the fraudulent website that purports to be the official website of an authorized insurer of Hong Kong, AIA International Limited (AIA), with the intention of obtaining customers' login details. AIA has confirmed that it has no connection with these phishing emails and the fraudulent website.

The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information or has conducted any insurance transactions through replying to the phishing emails, or visiting the aforesaid links or fraudulent website should call AIA Customer Service Hotline at (852) 2232-8888, and report the case to the Hong Kong Police Force.
