The Orkney Islands Council (Science Festival Event) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026

Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during a Science Festival Event.

The Order will be in operation on Saturday 5 September 2026 between 08:00 and 17:00 and its effect will be to close (1) Albert Street from Laing Street to Broad Street; (2) Broad Street from Albert Street to Palace Road; (3) Broad Street Car Park; and (4) Castle Street from Broad Street to car park Exit, all in Kirkwall, when required.

Parking will also be suspended on Broad Street, Kirkwall on Saturday 5th September 2026 between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00.

Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road or car park is closed.
