Portland State University named Gina Greco to serve as Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Student Success, a new role created by the reorganization of Academic Affairs. In this role, Greco will lead a unified, student-centered unit dedicated to holistic student development, engagement, well-being, and academic achievement. She will also be responsible for implementing PSU's new General Education program, in partnership with academic departments, deans, department chairs, University Studies (UNST) leadership and relevant faculty senate committees and with the support of the Implementation Team.
Gina Greco joined the Portland State faculty in 1992 as a specialist in Medieval French philology and literary studies. Her publications include The Good Wife's Guide (Le Ménagier de Paris), co-authored with colleague Christine Rose. She spent the academic year 2006-2007 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso as a Fulbright Scholar, where she conducted research in African film to develop new curriculum and taught American Studies and Literary Theory at the University of Ouagadougou (now Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo).
Greco's leadership and service at PSU includes one term as Presiding Officer of the Faculty Senate, two terms on the PSU-AAUP Bargaining Team, two terms as Chair of the Department of World Languages and Literatures, one year as Interim Program Director of Conflict Resolution, and as a member of the General Education Task Force Steering Committee. Her service to the profession includes several committee roles at the Modern Language Association of America, including Co-President of the Executive Council of the Association of Departments of Foreign Languages. Greco holds a PhD in Romance Languages from Princeton University.
Greco will begin this new role at Portland State University on July 1, 2026.
