erra State Community College freshman Evan Schiefer has been recognized as the NJCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National Athlete of the Week after an outstanding performance at the Region 12 Championships.
Schiefer, majoring in HVAC, is a native of Attica, Ohio, and a graduate of Seneca East High School. As the son of Nicole and Dan Schiefer, Evan began running in elementary school and developed his talent through a decade with the Seneca East program.
On the course, Schiefer placed fourth overall with a time of 25:45.1 in the 8K race at Region 12-the fastest time of any NJCAA Division III runner across all regionals this past weekend. Often the only competitor representing Terra State, he once again proved his ability to compete at an elite level, preventing nationally top-ranked Lansing Community College (Division II) from sweeping the top six positions.
This marks the second time a Terra State cross country athlete has earned the national weekly honor, with Schiefer also recognized earlier this season. His additional accolades include:
"Evan has set his own standards of excellence for himself and continues to improve. He is very dedicated and driven to be an outstanding distance runner. He is one of the most determined and hard-working student-athletes I've ever met," said head coach Mark Ingalls. "He does all the little things nobody sees and continues to improve. The national meet will be very, very exciting."
Next up, Schiefer will represent Terra State at the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on November 8, 2025.
