The Janney Technical Center (JTC) recently welcomed nearly one hundred students from Glenbrook North High School's Introduction to Engineering Design class to our Northbrook, Illinois, headquarters.
Students learned about WJE's history, technical capabilities, and multidisciplinary expertise. Matt Gries, JTC Regional Director, spoke with the students about potential career opportunities in engineering, architecture, and material sciences, offering insight into the diverse opportunities within the industry.
Twelve staff members led tours of the facility, shared their individual career journeys, and engaged with students during a dynamic Q&A session. A highlight of the visit was a live demonstration of a rebar failure using our Tinius Olsen testing machine, which gave students a firsthand look at real-world laboratory testing and structural behavior.
The students were highly engaged throughout their visit, asking thoughtful questions and showing enthusiasm for the hands-on learning opportunity.
