CHANDLER, Ariz. - The exhibition "Off the Clock" returns this year, celebrating the creative pursuits of City of Chandler employees in their time outside the office. The exhibition will be on view May 23 through July 25 at the Gallery at Chandler Center for the Arts (CCA), 250 N. Arizona Ave.
At the City of Chandler, creativity is a key quality in getting jobs done well. For many, creativity also spills into what they do when they clock out, from nurturing relaxing hobbies to developing skills in a craft and finding solace through artistic expression.
Every three years, employees from across the City of Chandler are invited to submit artwork to display. This year's exhibition, with over 50 artworks from 37 artists, includes paintings, photography, ceramics and more. "Off the Clock" features the creative talents of city employees and shows that they are more than just their job titles.
"There are often misconceptions and stereotypes about municipal workers. My hope is that this exhibition dispels some of those assumptions and asserts that we are a network of highly specialized and creative people serving our community," says Jillian Nakornthap, Vision Gallery curator. "For this year's exhibition, I am particularly excited because we have expanded our scope to include theatrical, musical and costuming arts."
Join the Gallery for the opening reception on Friday, May 22, 4:30-6:30 p.m. RSVP on Eventbrite.
The Gallery at CCA is located at 250 N. Arizona Ave. Hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday noon-4 p.m.; Closed Sunday. Free admission. Find more information on exhibitions at Vision Gallery or call 480-782-2695.
