Valley Residents are in Luck This St. Patrick's Day: Electric Yard Equipment Rebates Available

With spring in full swing, Valley residents are encouraged to help improve air quality and quality of life by replacing gas-powered yard care equipment with zero-emission electric alternatives through the Air District's Clean Green Yard Machines program (CGYM).

Funding is available Valley-wide to help residents make the switch. Eligible Valley residents can receive up to $250 when trading in an old gas-powered lawn mower for a new electric mower. Gas-powered lawn equipment contributes to air pollution that impacts Valley communities, and switching to cleaner electric alternatives helps residents reduce emissions while maintaining their yards.

The District's CGYM program provides two rebate options for Valley residents to electrify their residential yard equipment:

Option 1 - Valley residents may qualify for up to $250 off the purchase price of a new electric lawn mower (with a gas mower trade-in)

Option 2 - Rebates of up to $50 are available for electric yard tools such as edgers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and pole saws. A trade-in is not required.

Residents living within the selected AB 617 communities of Shafter, Stockton, South Central Fresno, and Arvin/Lamont may qualify for enhanced incentives of up to $500 for option 1 and can check the boundary maps to confirm eligibility.

"The success of the Clean Green Yard Machines program demonstrates that Valley residents are ready to adopt cleaner technologies," said Jaime Holt, the District's Chief Communications Officer. "By helping residents replace gas-powered lawn equipment with zero-emission electric tools, the program is reducing harmful emissions in our neighborhoods while putting cleaner, quieter, and more convenient equipment in the hands of Valley households."

Valley residents interested in upgrading to cleaner electric yard equipment are encouraged to apply now while funding remains available. Visit valleyair.org/CGYM to review program guidelines and submit an application before purchasing equipment.
